Carrboro Music Festival
Today is the Carrboro Music Festival. A day full of folk, roots, jazz, bluegrass and more. Check out the full schedule. Thanks to school I won't be able to make it out. I was hoping to cover it, but such is life. Please go enjoy it for me. Calico Haunts will be playing The Cave tonight in Chapel Hill. Doors at 9 p.m. and $5. A free bio-diesel shuttle bus will be running back and forth between the Carrboro Plaza Park & Ride Lot and downtown from noon until 8:00 PM. The Park & Ride Lot is behind the center of the buildings.
A trackless train will provide free rides on Weaver Street between Town Hall and Weaver Street Market from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Want to be a part of this incredible community event? You can do that while making new friends or hanging out with old friends. There are numerous types of jobs to be done. Help backstage, assist in traffic direction and parking or work at an information table. Those are but a few of the ways that you can help while still hearing an awful lot of music.
Students can receive Service Learning hours while all volunteers will get a free festival T-shirt, a free raffle ticket and two free passes to any regular scheduled program at The DSI Comedy Theater. Check out the volunteer page at our Volunteer Description web page The Carrboro Music Festival founding member and musician Janet Place created a special design for the 12th annual Carrboro Music Festival. The 2009 t-shirt will be sold at three designated sites during the Music Festival or can be bought at the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department prior to and following the festival.
