Barclays Golf Tournament 2009 at Liberty National Golf Course Tiger Woods is preparing himself for The Barclays 2009, which is being held at the Liberty National Golf Club this year and according to Associated Press, Tiger was seen to be struggling in his pro-am round on Wednesday, which was his first look at the $250 million course. Woods will be playing the FedExCup opener for the first time in the event that starts today. When asked why he was playing this tournament, Woods just replied with “I qualified.” He apparently tops the 125 players that have qualified for the $65 million playoff.
The world’s number 1 has now played seven events in a nine-week stretch. But Tiger admits that it could get tough. When in practice, he said that if the wind blows like it was, then it is going to be tough to get the ball close. His fans will be rooting for him though. The 2009 Golf Fedex Cup kick off the PGA's playoffs this week with The Barclays Golf Tournament at Liberty National in Jersey City, NJ.
The playoff system known as the FedEx Cup has received some scrutiny in years past as some tour players have not been happy with the format. The format was again revised this year and here is a brief breakdown of the rules. The playoffs are made up of four tournaments (The Barclays, Deutsche Bank Championship, BMW Championship, and the Tour Championship) with the Barclays starting with the top 125 golfers in the current FedEx Cup Standings. Each week the field will be reduced; to top 100 in week two, to top 70 in week three, and then to the top 30 for the Tour Championship.
